Credits & Usage
Everything in Raspberry that uses AI — generating an image, applying a pattern, rendering a garment in 3D — is measured in credits. This page covers how they're allocated, what each action costs, what happens when you run out, and how to make a monthly allowance go further.
Overage is billed at $0.50 per credit on Basic and Professional. Plan allowances and full per-action costs are below.
How credits work
The unit, the allowance, and the three rules behind most questions.
One credit is one standard AI output. Generate a single image and you've used one credit. Heavier tools cost more — a 3D render is five credits, and animation depends on length and model tier. The full list is in What each action costs.

Four things explain most of what you'll see:
Your plan's monthly credits
Starting for free
Anyone can sign up and use up to 50 free credits, no card required. These are a one-time allocation rather than a monthly allowance — they don't reset. Once they're used up, you'll be prompted to choose a plan to keep working.
Changing plans: upgrades take effect right away. Downgrades are scheduled for the end of your current billing period, so you keep your current allowance until that period ends.
Credit reset and billing date are two different dates
The single most common source of confusion, especially on annual contracts.
Your credits reset monthly — always. That's true whether you're billed monthly or annually.
Your invoice follows your billing schedule, which may be monthly or annual.
If you're on an annual contract, you're billed once a year but you receive a fresh allowance twelve times over that year. The annual price covers twelve monthly allowances, delivered one month at a time — not one large pool to spend whenever you like.
They're coming, one month at a time. Your allowance resets on the same monthly schedule as everyone else's.
The time until reset countdown on your Credit Usage page always refers to the credit reset, never the invoice date.
What each action costs
Resolution changes several of these — read the two notes below the table before planning a large run.
Several actions cost double at 4K. If you leave resolution on Auto and your input image is large, Auto resolves to the 4K rate — and the action costs twice what you expected. Set the resolution explicitly when you want predictable costs.
SVG export costs a credit. Most actions after generation are free, but this one isn't.
Work that doesn't cost credits
Where to see your credits
Your balance is always visible while you work. The full picture lives on the Credit Usage page.
Admins can open Credit Usage to see, for the current cycle:
Why your balance sometimes reads lower than you expect
Running batches reserve credits. The balance shown in the app subtracts credits already committed to work that's still processing. If you have 40 credits and the app shows 12, you almost certainly have batches in flight. The number corrects itself as those batches finish.
Alerts and messages
The app shows at most one credit message at a time, and the most urgent one wins.
Dismissals last for the rest of your credit cycle and clear automatically at reset. If you dismissed a warning last month and it's back this month, that's by design — it's a fresh cycle.
Admins can see who is close to their allowance at any time on the Credit Usage page.
What happens when you run out
It depends on your plan.
On Individual, work stops at zero. You'll be blocked from generating until your next monthly reset, or until you upgrade.
On Basic and Professional, you can keep working past your allowance with overage, billed at $0.50 per credit.
On Student and Educator, overage is available at the same $0.50 per credit once you've added a card to your account. Without a card on file, work pauses at zero until your next monthly reset.
If a member's balance shows as a negative number, that's the overage they've accrued this cycle. It clears at the next monthly reset.
Shared credits
Shared credits are an organization-level pool that sits on top of your normal per-seat allowances — granted as part of a pilot, a negotiated addition, or by arrangement with your account team. They aren't self-serve; if you think your account needs one, talk to your account team.
Can credits move between people?
No. Allowances are per member and can't be transferred, pooled, or reassigned — not between teammates, and not from one workspace to another.
If a member consistently needs more than their allowance, the options are to raise their overage limit, move them to a higher plan, or talk to your account team about shared credits.
Teams and multiple workspaces
Most accounts have their own billing: the workspace holds its own contract and pays for itself.
Larger organizations sometimes use parent billing, where several workspaces roll up to one paying entity. If that's your setup, the invoice consolidates — but usage, allowances, and limits are still tracked per workspace and per member, so you keep the same visibility into who is using what.
Getting the most out of your credits
Troubleshooting
"My balance looks wrong." Work through these first.
If none of these explain what you're seeing — or you're blocked with credits still on your balance and nothing running — contact support. It helps to include your organization name, the member affected, what they were trying to do, the number shown in the app, and roughly when it happened.
Legacy pricing
If your account is on our previous pricing, you use a different credit system, and the plans, allowances, overage rules, and reset behavior described here don't apply. Your account team can walk you through how your specific agreement works.
