FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
1
How do I get accurate print scaling/sizing?
- Use the Apply Print/Fabric tab in Edit instead of command prompting for more precise control.
- For factory limitation example: Calculate 300 DPI = 300 pixels per inch (10 inches = 3,000 pixels).
- Use the Increase Size tab in Print & Patterns tool feature up to 30" x 30" with decimal measurements.
- Save presets for consistent scaling across multiple masking workflows when apply print to garments.
2
Why isn't the seamless converter working properly?
Your solutions:
- Use the crop tool to remove unwanted edges/shadows/unwanted motifs before conversion.
- For complex patterns like plaid, try Generate Variations with similarity slider at ~50-60% instead.
3
How do I apply prints to garments accurately?
Your recommended workflow:
- Create seamless pattern first using Seamless Converter for an allover print or skip this step if it's an engineered placement.
- Use Smart Mask with plus/minus tools for precise selection.
- Apply via Apply Print/Fabric tab with scale, rotate, offset controls.
- Use AI Enhanced Apply to blend with garment texture/shadows + shadow strength.
4
How do I make my Extract Print outputs in repeat?
Your next steps:
- After generating a tile that in not in repeat, save your favorite output, and then use the Seamless converter to achieve the seamlessness.
- Use Generate Variations with reference image for similar motifs.
5
How do I get accurate colors when recoloring prints?
Your solutions:
- For applying print colorways to garments: adjust shadow strength based on color: higher for light colors (Arctic gray, rose quartz), lower for dark colors (red, black).
- For a direct placement recolor such as coloring the ground with an exact color chip, you can command prompt and use the color chip as the reference image and then pop the output back into the Seamless Converter to maintain the seamless repeat.
- In the Recolor tab in Print & Patterns, import a palette reference image to generate recolors in a variety of color positions.
- Recolor first at original size, then resize in the Increase Size tab to maintain consistency across variations.
6
Which file type is the best to download for prints?
- This depends on if the team prefers to work in vectorized or indexed color reductions:
- If the teams prefer to reduce and recolor artworks in photoshop, then we recommend using the indexed PSD or TIFF file types paired with the reduced color mode.
- If the team prefers to finalize their artwork in Illustrator we recommend a SVG file type download instead
- We don't recommend using the reduced color mode with SVG file types as the indexed dithering method adds odd textures to the image downloads for this file type specifically.
7
What's the best way to create a new variation based on a previous season artwork or best seller?
- To get a brand new iteration based on an older print, we recommend using the "Generate Variations" tool, with the similarity slider un-toggled. When this setting is un-toggled, the tool will create better versions with more creative interpretations without being a direct copy of the original reference.
8
Does the tool do 2-way or half-drop prints?
- To answer shortly, yes. However, the tool's capability only allows the outputs to feature a single motif in these style repeats. In the future, we'll work on ways to better create more complex versions of these prints.
